Our Work

Research

We lead and support interdisciplinary research exploring the links between climate, environment, and brain health, incorporating global perspectives and prioritizing innovation and inclusivity.

Advocacy

We raise awareness and amplify the voices of those most affected by climate change, ensuring brain health is part of the global climate dialogue.

Policy

We translate research into practical policy recommendations and advocate for their adoption at all levels from local communities to global institutions.

Community

We work hand-in-hand with communities to co-create strategies that support mental and neurological resilience in the face of climate threats.

Our Projects

Global Resilient Brains Project

An international transdisciplinary project dedicated to uncovering the cultural, epidemiological and neurobiological drivers of brain resilience in vulnerable communities facing climate change and related ecological crises.

A logo divided into two halves: the left side shows pollution with factories emitting smoke and circuit lines, the right side depicts nature with a sun, mountains, trees, and green leaves; below is the text 'BRAIN CLIMA PROJECT'.

Brain CLIMA Project

A Wellcome Trust–funded, international research initiative that investigates how heat and air pollution interact to affect brain health in Latin America and translates this evidence into policy-relevant insights for climate-vulnerable populations.

The WHO Air Pollution and Health Training Toolkit for Brain Health

A World Health Organization-partnered project dedicated to create a training module on air pollution and brain health for public health professionals worldwide.

State of Global Air Report 2025

Our group contributed evidence on the impacts of air pollution on brain health, included for the first time in the history of this report, informing this annual global assessment of air quality and health outcomes produced by the Health Effects Institute in collaboration with the Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation and NCD Alliance.

CliCBrain – Climate, Cities and Brain Health

Our group is one of the partners on the European Commission-funded project, which aims to develop an evidence-based, practice-oriented research and training program to improve design, planning, innovation, and policy.

Book cover titled 'Eco Brain' with a Wi-Fi signal outline and a green tree forming the shape of a human head, representing reimagining neuroscience through ecology and greenery.

The Ecological and Green Neuroscience Book

We are co-writing a paradigm-shifting book that challenges the traditional, neuron-centric view and pushes neuroscience into uncharted and necessary territories through an ecological and green lens. The book will be published by the MIT Press.

Our Focus Groups & Partners

Neuro Climate Youth Council

Our Youth Council consists of students and early-career professionals dedicated to raising awareness about the mental and neurological impacts of climate change by leading campus advocacy, addressing issues like climate anxiety and youth well-being, participating in global events and peer mentorship, and contributing to our outreach and communications.

South and East Asia Neuro Climate Group

Our Asia-based regional group driving collaborative, data-driven research at the nexus of neuroscience, climate, and public health, including studying the effects of air pollution and heat on children’s cognition.

Brain, Climate, Equity Canada Collaborative

Our Canada-based collaborative to unite neurologists, physiatrists, researchers, students, and communities under a common mission to generate evidence, raise awareness, drive systemic change, and foster innovation to mitigate the impacts of climate change on brain health, with an unwavering commitment to equity.
